For me, sewing has always felt kind of like playing. I got my first sewing machine when I was 8 and would make little owls and pillows for my mom and siblings, and in reading the call for art for the lounge, I thought about those owls and the comfort and sense of home that they brought me and wanted to try to recreate that. I would say that’s the thread through all of my pieces in the show— trying to create a sense of play and feel at home with our inner child and the people around us. Nostalgia is also a big theme in these pieces, whether it’s for my childhood or junior year of college.
