Mugs

While I began my pursuit of ceramics as a means to obtain more mugs in my life, I quickly fell in love with clay as a medium for creativity, particularly in the ability to capture something in a form. I've always been attracted to visual patterns, and none more so than the natural patterns of the earth, the textures of bark, the veins of leaves, the layering of sediment. As my ceramics journey unraveled, I became entranced with trying to emulate, replicate, and inspire the natural patterns that caught my eye into functional forms, mostly mugs and plates. And while I still struggle with understanding and controlling glazes, handbuilding mugs continues to bring me solace and fulfillment, each piece entirely its own, an attempt in capturing both natural inspiration and my own persona.
