SAMMIE DOXSEY

Hi Everyone! My name is Sammie Doxsey, and I am a maker. I focus predominantly on filmmaking and photography, but I like to dabble in sculpture and visual arts. This piece, Disastrous Dinner, was initially suspended in the air- with lots of different food entrees flying everywhere, I imagined someone pulling a tablecloth away from the table, and everything went up! This piece is made entirely out of a single side table. Every piece was carved, shaped, and painted by yours truly- most of them look like food- some more appetizing than others. My personal favorite piece is the asparagus. I was also inspired by Studio Ghibli food- the ham in Ponyo and other Spirited Away dishes. I encourage folx to look at each object and find what part of the table it came from. Please feel free to touch the food, but I wouldn’t advise eating it!
