So these pieces were a part of my art portfolio for “Drawing Eye Mind & Hand” when I took it in the fall of 2021. The assignment for the first piece specifically was to sit down, the professor read a list of random sentences and we had to draw the first thing or object that came to mind on this huge piece of paper, and basically we cut those pieces out and had to make a collage with them, and we had free range, we could make a collage of anything, they just had to incorporate those drawings we did for that assignment. So this came together and this is a representation of my life. Ranging from hobbies to institutions that have really influenced me. Surrounding the piece is the twin peaks mountain range that sits over my town. So kind of overlooking my existence, if you will. Originally, I didn’t plan on this piece being able to be viewed in any different type of orientation, but it just kind of all came together that way. So I really enjoy this piece. It’s actually framed because it is hanging in my apartment. So I love this piece, I’m really proud of it. The second piece was the final for the course and the final was obviously related to the midterm and what that assignment was was we had to find our drawings and objects that we incorporated into the drawing in the real world. As you can see the Yin Yang symbol is in both of them and that Yin Yang within the final piece, the second piece, was my friend's earring. They were wearing earrings that one day, so I was like “Oohh let me get a picture of this.” So yeah, we had to just find those in the real world and make another collage, again free range, but yeah this is what I came up with. I like the midterm better, obviously, since it’s hanging up in my apartment. But yeah that’s the story behind those, I definitely enjoyed working on these, and I definitely enjoyed my time in my art class. Shout out Jan Johnson. Thanks for listening and for viewing my art :)
