Who Am I First is a meditation on perception from the perspective of a Black, Queer, Trans and first generation Nigerian American. In this short experimental documentary, I explore what it means to
belong in an environment that desperately resists who you are at your core. I reflect themes such as chaos, balance, texture, and color by filming both digitally and on film. I combine candid and found
footage, as well as home photos to create a narrative on how my self-perception has evolved as I have made various transitions, both physical and spiritual in life. In this piece I hope to bring a voice to topics that are often nuanced and difficult to articulate.
