Butchering

Hi! For this piece, I wanted the colors to create a really gnarly distinction between the bright bubble gum pink background and the bloody, dull, and deep colors of the meat. This piece was inspired by a book about surgical practices through the 17th and 19th centuries and the extreme mistreatment of bodies within the medical community at the time, which personally reflected the treatment of animal carcasses. The choice to use staples and thread was made to represent the ways in which both animal and human bodies are closed up.
